Why do we use Taping / Bracing?


At Physio Tullamore we use taping as a protective mechanism in the presence of an existing injury. Taping would rarely be our main treatment but can be helpful to assist in injury recovery and management. We tape for:

  • Pain relief
  • Joint stability
  • Athlete Confidence
  • Injury prevention
  • Offload tissues
  • Assist poor joint alignment
  • Switch off muscles
  • Assist a muscle
  • Improve proprioception
  • Compress injured tissue

Types of tape / braces?


  • Sports strapping is most often a rigid style of strapping tape to stabilise and support joints.
  • Kinesiology / Rock tape acts to dynamically assist your muscle function.
