Christian Coombs - High-Performance Physiotherapist & Lecturer
Christian is a highly experienced High-Performance Physiotherapist with an extensive background in sports rehabilitation, biomechanics,
and athletic performance. He holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Physiotherapy from Curtin University, an MSc in Strength &
Conditioning from St. Mary’s University, London, and a BSc in Chartered Physiotherapy from Cardiff Medical School. Additionally, he
earned a BSc (Hons) in Exercise Physiology from Glamorgan University.
Currently, Christian is a lecturer at the Technological University of the Shannon, where he teaches on the BSc in Athletic Therapy &
Rehabilitation program. He is also a member of the Sport Ireland High-Performance Panel for Physiotherapy, working with elite athletes
at the highest level.
He has held key leadership roles in elite sports, including:
- Head of Medical, Offaly GAA (2023–2024)
- High-Performance Physiotherapist – Sport Ireland (Irish Track Athletes)
- Head Physiotherapist, Westmeath Gaelic Football Team (2011–2015)
- Medical Coordinator, Offaly Gaelic Football Team (2018)
- Sports Physiotherapy & Performance Testing for International Olympic Athletes & Professional Rugby Players
With a wealth of experience in sports performance, injury rehabilitation, and high-performance environments, Christian is dedicated to
optimising athlete health, recovery, and peak performance.
